Nanotechnology Biosensors Cluster -
Ling Zang, Ph.D.
Goal: Our current research efforts are aimed to solve and understand several fundamental scientific problems that remain unclear among the organic semiconductor community. These problems include exciton diffusion, charge carrier transport and their relationship with the intermolecular structure within the materials. Studying these properties, particularly under cooperative structural optimization, will help improve the function and performance of organic semiconductor materials and devices, including solar cells, light-emitting diodes (LEDs), transistors, lasers and sensor systems. The major goal of our research is to reveal the structure-property-function relationship of organic semiconductors when fabricated into nanomaterials, which often demonstrate unique properties and unprecedented performance compared to the traditional bulk-phase materials.
